Last week, we brought the eBay mission to Capitol Hill for our second annual Congressional Reception, Innovating for American Small Businesses, at the Cannon Hearing Room in Washington, D.C. At eBay, we empower small businesses and entrepreneurs to create economic opportunity for all. It was a privilege to join policymakers, media, and four incredible eBay sellers (Ken Gaitano, Malena Martinez, Yinka Ogunsunlade, and Linda Lightman) to show what makes eBay different and why trust is everything when you're running a business online. Our Authenticity Guarantee and Organized Retail Crime teams brought that to life in tangible ways, showing how we're combining the power of technology and people to build a safer, more trusted space for buyers and sellers. Members of Congress delivered great news for eBay etrepreneurs and small business owners last week -- the 1099-K reporting threshold was restored to $20,000 and 200 transactions.? ? At eBay, we’ve consistently advocated for a common-sense solution that ensures casual sellers aren’t caught up in burdensome and confusing tax requirements. This 1099-K legislation provides clarity for millions of American entrepreneurs who rely on online platforms like eBay to build and grow their businesses. I want to thank Chairman Jason Smith, Senator Mike Crapo, Representative Carol Miller, and Senator Bill Hagerty for their leadership in advancing this important policy change that supports small business growth and aligns tax policy with today’s digital economy.
